last week I was really craving some Taiwanese snacks, so this weekend I set out to stew/roast some beef shank. Then yesterday, we stopped by Champion, the local chinese/taiwanese deli place that serves taiwanese breakfast on weekends. We bought a you tieu (fried donut) and a couple shao bing (sesame bread), and went home to finish my creation. Ok, yeah I know... since we were already at the deli place, why didn't we just buy the premade rice-rolls (fan tuan) and steamed bread or sesame bread filled with beef? but I guess my mom's frugalness has rubbed off on me and i didn't feel like spending $2.50 - $3.00 per item when i could just make it myself and make a lot, too. Soo a couple hours and 4 rice-rolls, 10 steamed breads, 2 shao-bings later, i'm one happy camper! and well, even though I'm preggo and a piggo we still won't eat THAT many, so i shared with Tim's parents. And if you're around and want some before they're all gone, just stop by and visit ! =)
